SUPERETTE
RETAIL STORE DESIGN

Superette, the hottest new Cannabis shop in Toronto – and our customer – delivered one of the biggest highs when seeing the retail design doodles come to life in a big way! Drummond Munroe, Co-Founder of Superette had a vision for his retro Cannabis shops. Their first location on Rideau Street in Ottawa was having great success. However, Drummond knew there was an opportunity to refine the design for future stores to even further enhance the Cannabis retail experience. After a few inspirational conversations, Blake Jarrett and Company was chosen as a retail design partner to help elevate the retail experience for future stores. We did just that with their latest store on Yonge Street in the Toronto neighborhood of Summerhill, with more to follow.

WASHINGTON’S LOTTERY
DEPARTMENT OF IMAGINATION FLAGSHIP RETAIL STORE & REGIONAL OFFICE

Washington’s Lottery was on a mission to launch a flagship retail store “Department of Imagination,” in Spokane Mall (Spokane, Washington). The new retail store would not only embody the brand’s persona, but it also served as a regional office for Washington’s Lottery’s employees. Blake Jarrett & Company was commissioned by Washington’s Lottery through Wunderman Thompson, to design and outfit their new “Department of Imagination” retail store, with the intent to optimize the consumer journey. Intrigued by some of Blake Jarrett & Company’s previous work in the lottery industry, Washington’s Lottery was excited to work alongside a trusted partner to help guide the strategy behind this new space.

The purpose of the new flagship retail store was to showcase a new and innovative approach to lottery at retail. The customer journey needed to be redefined and optimized. Inspired by the notion that the Department of Imagination store needed to become a destination as opposed to a quick stop, the intention of the space was to offer consumers an inviting space to learn about the Lottery and play and redeem winning tickets in a fun environment. In collaboration with Washington’s Lottery, Wunderman Thompson, and other trusted partners, Blake Jarrett & Company designed, engineered, and manufactured the Department of Imagination flagship retail store.

ATLANTIC LOTTERY CORPORATION
WALMART MONCTON KIOSK

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) was looking to transform an existing Lottery Kiosk located in a Walmart store. Their existing kiosk was dated and no longer on point with brand guidelines. ALC engaged the Blake Jarrett team to develop their vision and bring it to life in-store.

The primary purpose of the renovation was to optimize the customer journey while at the same time bringing the ALC personality and brand ethos to the space. The Blake Jarrett team worked collaboratively with key stakeholders at ALC to understand the needs for the space through a design discovery. The list of essentials included:

  • Modular and functional design for easy and cost-effective execution.

  • Important to have the selling area with the greatest visibility.   Include a dedicated play area for players to scratch tickets, prep their lottery games, complete selection slips, enter ballots, etc. Consider customer privacy in design.

  • A prominent and creative means to display scratch tickets where players can pre-shop the category before visiting the selling counter.

  • Digital presence will be a focal point.

  • Ensure back room for staff remain accessible and functional.

The Result:

The new design focused on delivering a more functional space, along with an impressive visual impact accentuating the brand’s personality to draw customers in and get them engaged.

  • A new player bar allowing for ticket slips, check tickets at their own pace in a private dedicated space.

  • A new angled counter with feature ticket showcase to excite customers with new tickets display.

  • Ample display areas – including three dynamic menu board displays and 3 promotion areas on the player bar to highlight scratch tickets and promo draw games.

  • New hidden access door with a blown up, oversized logo lock up that made the back-room entry a feature brand area.

  • The space was unified with branding colour and a bright red accent wall to draw customer into the space.

The installation was planned as a 2-day assignment and was flawlessly executed as planned. The simplicity of the design allowed for a smooth and seamless transformation, without compromising the ask. Bottom line, the Blake Jarrett Team along with our ALC partners collaborated to develop the vision and bring it to life in store in a powerful way.
